Just a question, Faris and I were considering an alternative to purifying and isolating bacteriophages, do we have access to an Ultracentrifuge which reaches 13000G? We would be able to pellet bacteriophages. I am new so, I do not know about all of our lab equipment.

Do you mean 13,000? Sounds more like something that may need 130,000 to me…. But if it is 13,000 then any benchtop will do it. Which I why I think it’s wrong as these aren’t ultracentrifuges.
Sorry the protocol I read suggested an ultracentrifuge for some reason. Now I believe I found a better one, suggesting that I should set it to 25,000 x g for 2 hours (possible on benchtops). From what I understand this would most likely leave bacterial cell debris and possibly DNA in the pellets. To avoid DNA contamination in PCR, would I have to treat the pellets with DNase/RNase? Or would centrifugation (maybe in PEG?) and micron filtering be enough?
